boxdrawing.nfo properly recognized as OEM-US.change Encoding > Character Sets > Western European > OEM-US.But today, that problem isn’t occurring – I don’t know what I was doing wrong yesterday, but that’s not really important. But, we’ve got to start somewhere, so I’ll do this with a call for more information, however it can be, when I had tried, I was having difficulty: I would try to pick OEM-US, but it would still show as UTF-8 on the status bar and in the encoding. This presumes that opening the file would be the same as doing what you are doing – pasting the data, but I’m not 100% certain this is going to be the case.īottom line is that I don’t think there is enough information supplied – yet – to get to the origins of the problem, or to propose a solution. It may not be too difficult to come up with a workable solution for this to be made smoother in Notepad++, but we’d need a sample file with this data in it, and a screenshot of what it looks like (when it looks correct).Ī screenshot (I presume you can get one) is easy enough to paste here, but I’m not sure what’s easiest for transferring a file, because this site doesn’t allow posting of files, and it is important that we have a file with exact data in it, so you just can’t paste the contents in as text – or at least I don’t think that would work without changing the data somehow. Developing in this particular app is one of sounds like you have what is known as a Codepage 437 problem. Generally, I consider Notepad++ superior, but there are a few features that make me open the other one. That app too has it’s pros and cons for use. It wouldn’t be too large of an issue, except the search and replace seems to get confused on how it interprets the copied double-line upper-right corner symbol, making search and replace impossible, and I have to manually edit every after paste. I’ve flagged all the various encoding types, but it doesn’t seem to help. Instead, they are shown as ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ instead. I have been unable to find the proper configuration in Notepad++ to display the line characters properly. When developing, I will copy the screen and paste it into the text editor. PC DOS style (replacing it is not an option at this time, because reasons) I’m working with an application that draws screens using the ASCII box drawing characters of old. I’ve seen references to the box drawing characters when I’ve searched for it, but not found a solution that works for my application.
